Exploring the relationship between glamour and banality within the American casino.


This book juxtaposes vernacular design with the nature of casino aesthetic through a mix of flickr photos, academic essays, travel forums, and remote interviews. Casino is a 200 page, swiss-bound book, printed on 100lb text gloss paper. The front cover uses gold cardstock paper and is embossed with French suit graphic symbols.

These institutions balance the repulsive and the desirable, the distorted and the hyperreal–it is all broadcasted through casino’s vanity, caprices, and conspicuous materiality.
